This is the first activation in Nov 2014. Owner Dan Gomes has a 4 acre Farm Resort what we claim to be the first Urban Vertical Farm in Mumbai (based on feedback from visitors visiting the farm from various industries).
The UGF Farms Urban farm prototype was set up in a 500 sqft area. Manually operated and run by two staff members, the farm produced 40kgs of microgreens week weekly. The medium used was cocopeat and organic liquid nutrients when required.
We call this “Activation of dead space”. Medium used to grow microgreens was not reused and was introduced to the soil around the site, creating an abundance of greens and vegetables for the resort. Hence activating space around the microgreen grow area as time progressed.
